March 3, 2024The village is located on a flat patch of land in the southern coastal plain, surrounded by Wadi Al-Mari and connected by roads to other villages, 36.5 kilometers north of Gaza and 50 meters above sea level. Its population was 650 in 1945 and contained 84 houses. Its residents depended on agriculture, especially grain and citrus. A military airport was established near it during the British Mandate period. Al-Batani Al-Sharqi was a farm during the time of the Umayyad Caliphs.
Displacement
The village was occupied by the Givati Brigade of the Haganah gang on May 13, 1948, and was ethnically cleansed.
Colonization
There are no settlements on the village lands currently, while settlers grow citrus fruits in the lands adjacent to it.
The village today
All that remains of the village is a dilapidated police station building dating back to the British occupation era, and there are some antiquities and plants such as cacti and figs.
